Final Conferences

Dear Families,
Below is the list of scheduled conferences for out final parent teacher conference which will be held on THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2015. If you are unable to attend; please let us know immediately as a courtesy to all other Team Soar Families. Please note that if you have an upcoming RTI or IEP meeting, those meetings will be considered your conference. There will not be an open house this quarter.

Accidents Happen

Good Morning Families,

Just like children, adults make mistakes as well. We realized after we had printed over 50 field trip slips yesterday that we wrote our field trip takes place on Friday, April 25. Obviously those dates do not match up, and we don't have school on Saturdays. We decided instead of wasting paper, we hoped that families would come to the conclusion that we had an error, and that the field trip will take place on FRIDAY, APRIL 24. We hope this clarifies any questions.

If your child needs a bag lunch provided for that day, please let us know. Additionally, if you signed up to be a chaperone, we will pick out of a hat from parents that have current background checks on Friday. We will let you know if your name was selected!

3rd Quarter Conferences

Just a reminder we have third quarter conferences scheduled with a few families, followed by an open house that will be focused on math from 5:00-5:30. Please note that open house ends at 5:30, so please come by no later than 5:15 in order to experience our student lead open house!

If you are not scheduled for a private conference and would like one, please contact us immediately so that we can try and accommodate you. Open house will focus on Math this semester. Open house will start promptly at 5:00pm end at 5:30pm.

Our focus in math is still on measurement and data, however we are starting to look at measuring length, width, capacity, converting different measurement units, as well as determining area and perimeter.

In writing, we are looking at students strengths and weaknesses and placing them into focus groups to target skills they could use extra support in. Groups are divided into categories such as writing conventions, lead, endings, transitions, craft, and elaboration. 

Another piece of information that seems insignificant but your child will know what it is for!

Anti-Bullying Month

February is Anti-Bullying Month. In honor of this month, we at Jefferson participated in many activities to stomp out bullying; one of which you already know is to wear pink on Fridays. The second, is to create a class door that displays an anti-bullying theme. Our theme this year was thought up by Natalie Woppert. When the students were asked what a bully does to you, she very eloquently said that they, "break your heart." We ran with that theme and not only made a classroom door to represent that, but we also recorded a little song, thank you Elton John and Kiki Dee! Below are the students singing their anti-bullying song. The door pictures will be up soon!

Our third graders are preparing for the new state test, as part of that test we are reminding everyone that stamina reading, reading for 20 minutes a night will significantly help your child!

This information may seem random, however, your child will know what it is for!

Full Class

We have just been informed we will have a new student starting tomorrow. Please make sure that if you and your child bring in a friendship treat or card that you bring in 54! The celebration will be on Friday, February 13th in the afternoon.
