If you have not sent back the envelope for report cards, please sign the line marked, "Quarter Two" and take out the report card before your child takes the envelope back to school with them tomorrow!
Well, going back to our title, we are half way through the school year already! It's hard to believe, however we are! Our focus in math has switched gears to measurement and data; we will be covering topics such as identifying and measuring angles, being able to read a clock and calculate elapsed time, working fluently with money, measuring using multiple different units, and reading/creating different types of graphs. Every student's literacy needs vary, however, all students should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes a day and should be able to answer comprehension questions related to their book. In writing, we continue to write opinion pieces and are now adding in counter arguments as well as catchy endings. Inquiry this quarter will take students anywhere they want on Earth! Students were given four different topics to choose from such as weather and natural disasters and animals. From there, students will choose a subtopic, research, and then create a Keynote presentation as their final project. Ask your students what interests them!
Thank you to all families who attended open house! It was wonderful to see you all and we can't wait until our math based open house coming up at the end of quarter three! Pictures to follow soon!
